VUCTF 2026

Ever since the destruction of the WN building started, rumors have been circulating about weird things happening on the construction site. Some are saying that the construction workers have been hearing strange noises, seeing objects seemingly moving on their own, and even encountering ghostly apparitions lurking around the site at night.

One of these apparitions, an extremely aggressive spirit, has been sabotaging the demolition process, haunting any machine, worker, or even any bystanders that dare to step foot on the site. The ones who've encountered it, have nicknamed it the Ghost of WN...

Now the question is; Do you dare investigate the WN and risk an encounter with the Ghost of WN?

09:30-10:00: Registration

10:00-10:30: Introduction Speech

10:30-16:30: CTF

16:30-17:30: Closing Speech

17:30- END : Borrel

Lunch will be provided around 12:30

Who can join?

Everyone interested in cybersecurity! Beginners, students, and advanced competitors are all welcome.

I haven't done much/any CTFs before, is that a problem?

Definetly not, we welcome beginners! Beginners will be given a separate scoreboard, and additional help will be available during the event.

I have registered, but I want to change/cancel my registration, how do I do that?

Please contact us at vuctf.at.studsec.nl to make changes or cancel your registration.

Can I join in online to the CTF?

No, the CTF is only available in-person at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. However, the challenges will be available online (sometime) after the event.

I don't have a team, can I join?

Yes! We can match you up with other participants if you select any of the "yes" options in the match-up section of the registration form.

Does participation cost money?

No, the event is completely free to join.

What should I bring?

Your laptop, charger, a usb micro-b cable, a usb type c cable, an ethernet cable, and enthusiasm.

Will food be provided?

Yes, we will arrange warm lunch for all participants. Please indicate any dietary preferences on your registration. Additional restaurants and options are available within a 5-10 minute walk.

How do I get there?

The exact location is Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, De Boelelaan 1111, 1081 HV Amsterdam. You can also see using google maps. It is a 10 minute walk from Amsterdam Station Zuid which is accessible by Train, Metro, Tram and Bus! In case for longer trips, Schipol is the closest airport and the port of Amsterdam is the closest port.

Is parking available?

Bike parking is available around campus. Paid car parking is also available within campus. You may read more about here.
